Well, hrm...
Originally, I came to livejournal because occasionally some friends of mine, in too bad a mood to really feel like rehashing the same story (rightly so), pointed me over here. After thinking how silly it was to desire to tell one's life story over the Internet, I'm here anyway, sharing my story and realizing that it's more fun to share than not. Cheers to my friends that are already here for their courage as well as their friendship. :) More often these days I'm making friends-only posts myself. It's really just fair warning that there are personal things that happen to even me, and I'm actually making some effort to keep my personal and professional lives at least a little bit separated.
Currently, I live and work in the Phoenix area.My heart lives overseas (in Egypt to be exact) in my chest. I used to live in New Mexico for the first 25 years of my life before finally getting out from the "Land of Entrapment" the day after Christmas of 2000 in the middle of what qualifies in NM as a blizzard. The story from there becomes no less bizarre and involves some things that the producers of "Trading Spaces" never thought to include in their show.
I graduated from the University of New Mexico with a bachelor's degree in English and a minor in Biology. My interests are exactly as diverse as you might expect, and if you wish to be nice about it, you can call me something of a "Renaissance Man." I used to also play the French Horn, and there's every reason in the world that I should start playing again. Good thing I almost never throw things away. ;) I have gotten myself knee deep in photography and am hoping to get myself even deeper. It helps to have good tools (a nice Canon EOS 10D with a fairly nice Sigma 28-300mm lenssome fairly good lenses). If you're curious what I can do, it's very easily found.
As long as we're on the subject of things that I should be doing, meeting new people is coming rather high on the list! I'm excited to be more of a free-spirit again, or at least working toward that. I have some hopes of heading back to school next fall to pursue my teaching certificate as well. Nothing like being able to warp young minds! It's also exciting to be a corporate trainer at work now. I am reminded daily about how challenging a job should be and relish the fact that I learn more on a daily basis. Much of my time is split between new hire training and development, performance consulting and web development.
I currently spend far more time thinking critically, playing dynamically, and philosophizing like only me and long dead sacks of bones can! At least I would be doing this if I weren't so busy having fun and working.
I've also put quite a bit of time into personal growth lately. This isn't your classic self-help scheme here. I've worked myself out of every shell you could think of. The skinny guy with the 80's cut has been replaced by someone that I feel is a bit more "me." Look for good things on the horizon.
Enough for now, thismightwill grow again in the future.
